A, B and c inter into a partnership in the ratio 7/2 ∶ 4/3 ∶ 6/5 . After 4 months, A increases his share by 50%. If the total profit at the end of one year be Rs. 21600, then B's share in the profit is ?
(a)4000
(b)4200
(c)4300
(d)4400
Answer is: ARatio of initial investments = 7/2 ∶ 4/3 ∶ 6/5 = 105 : 40 : 36
Let the initial investments be 105X, 40X and 36X
∴ A : B : C = ( 105X x 4 + 150/100 x 105X x 8 ) : ( 40X x 12 ) : ( 36X x 12 )
A : B : C = 1680X : 480X : 432X = 35 : 10 : 9
Hence B's share = Rs. (21600 x 10/54 ) = Rs. 4000

18.

A and B entered into partnership with capitals in the ratio 4 : 5. After 3 months, A withdrew 1/4 of his capital and B withdrew 1/5 of his capital. The gain at the end of 10 months was Rs. 760. A's share in this profit is?
(a)300
(b)310
(c)320
(d)330
Answer is: DA : B = [4X x 3 + ( 4X - 1/4 x 4X ) x 7 ] : [5X x 3 + ( 5X - 1/5 x 5X ) x 7 ]
A : B = ( 12X + 21X ) : ( 15X + 28X )
A : B = 33X : 43X = 33 : 43
∴ A's share = Rs. ( 760 x 33/76 ) = Rs. 330

19.

Manik received Rs. 6000 as his share out of the total profit of Rs. 9000 which he and Ranu earned at the end of one year. If Manik invested Rs. 20000 for 6 months, whereas Ranu invested his amount for the whole year, what was the amount invested by ranu?
(a)5000
(b)4000
(c)3000
(d)2000
Answer is: ASuppose Ranu invested Rs. X
Then, Manik : Ranu = ( 20000 x 6 ) : (X x 12 )
∴ 120000/12X = 6000/3000
X = 120000/24 = 5000

20.

A, B and C enter into a partnership with a capital in which A's contribution is Rs. 10,000. If out of a total profit of Rs. 1000, A gets Rs. 500 and B gets Rs. 300, then C's capital is ?
(a)5000
(b)4000
(c)3000
(d)2000
Answer is: CA : B : C = 500 : 300 : 200 = 5 : 3 : 2
Let their capitals be 5X, 3X and 2X respectively
Then, 5X = 10000
X = 2000
∴ C's capital = Rs. (2X) = Rs. ( 2 x 2000) = Rs. 4000.
